Finding His Voice

Yesterday morning, Ali was doing some early reading and sent me an email with the sweetest quote from poet Elizabeth Bishop. It made her think of Oliver and after I read it, I thought it would be perfect to go with this video of Ollie chatting away to himself...

"At my house as I write there is a four-month-old baby who has just discovered his voice; not his crying voice, but his speaking, singing or poetry-voice, and he devotes stretches of the day to trying it out. He can produce long trills, loud or soft, and repeated bird-like cries, obviously with pleasure"

  1. Glad you like it! I do too. And Oliver enacts it perfectly (of course he does!) It IS kind of birdlike, especially around 12-13 seconds. She says that, but it didn't seem true until I heard it. Give Ollie my love. His poetry voice. Yes. Our Baby Poet.

  2. Next he'll be scatting along with whatever jazz you're playing. Oh Ollie, how we love you!

  3. He's gonna be rolling over pretty soon! And "like" on the scatting thought. Conjures up fun visions! Kind of like the etrade baby... Hugs Ollie!!
