Growing Like A Weed

Same diaper, same baby. Hard to believe!
We're transitioning into using cloth diapers, so yesterday I snapped a few pictures of Ollie in his apple green Fuzzibuns to send to Grandma Carol so she could compare his growth to the shots she took of Ollie when she was here in April. He's gone from a skinny little late pre-term infant to a roly poly baby!
Good work, Oliver!

Time Flies (when you have a baby)

We can't believe our sweet babe is THREE MONTHS OLD today! Holy cow. Where does the time go? In so many ways, it feels like Oliver has always been in our family. I can hardly recall what life was like before he joined us - probably because I'm exhausted and brain dead - but in a good way, ya know. Even though the 3am feedings aren't always my favorite, his sighs, coos, cuddles and little smiles (although I couldn't capture one for this post - dang it Ollie!) are the absolute best. I want to soak up these moments because I know this phase will be gone before we know it. Isaac and I just look at him and then at each other and shake our heads and smile. "He's the best" we say over and over. And he is.

We are crazy in love with you W. Oliver and our lives are way more fun having you in it. We thank God for the blessing of your life and pray every day you know how much we love you.

A few other pics from my little shoot today on his darling vintage fabric baby quilt made by our dear friend, Betsy Jamison....

P.s. Thank you again, Grandma and Grandpa Epperson, for the little stuffed Lion. So cute.
P.s.s Happy Birthday Uncle Jesse! We think it's cool that Ollie turned 3 months on your 19th birthday.
Hope Florida is treating you well. We love you!

Patriotic Baby

Isaac and I had the most fun taking pictures of Ollie on July 4. The mini flags we had were the perfect size for his fingers to grasp and he truly caught the fever, waving his little flags proudly. We laughed our heads off.

Turns out, Ollie's a Neil Diamond fan. Who knew?

Please disregard the loud texts that were coming through my phone when I was taking this video.

Ollie Meets His Cousins!

As if having Ali and Kelly out two weeks ago wasn't treat enough, we also had a quick little visit with Darby, Ben and Petey before they went up to Beaver Creek for the week. It was A HOOT! Ben and Pete were so kind and gentle with Ollie and were pretty much the best cousins a little guy could ask for.

Petey is such a big boy now! He's talking like a kid twice his age (if you ask me) and I loved sitting next to him and listening to him say things like "If I burp, that makes my tummy feel better.'

Darby was the first aunt to meet Ollie after he was born and as you can see, they have a special relationship.

Isaac showed Ben that if he put his finger out, Ollie would latch on to it. Ben had such a nice way with Ollie and said numerous times "I bet he's thinking "Now what's going on here"! When Ollie made funny baby faces Ben said "He's such a goofy little guy!" Right on, Ben.

We can't wait to see you guys again in July! More cousin time comin' right up.

Ollie Meets His Aunties!

Aunties Ali and Kelly (aka Dodo - a name bestowed on her by our nephews Ben and Pete) came for a visit and met Oliver for the first time! These two girls were the sweetest, most thoughtful guests a sister could have. They brought a lovely hostess gift (I'm burning that Anthro candle every day!), played and cuddled with Ollie like old pros, and loaded and unloaded the dishwasher more times than I can count. Ali was also on beverage duty and provided us with tasty cocktails every evening and Kel kept us entertained with her hilarious made up songs. There were also trips to Ikea, the mountains, fro yo runs and some boutique shopping all with Ollie in tow, who I must admit, was a true champ and took it all in stride by mostly napping while we were out. Good job little fella. You done your mama proud.

Ollie is starting to give little smiles when he feels so inclined and Dodo was really good at making him comfy and getting a tiny grin here and there.

Ali walked away from tv during the South Carolina baseball game at the College World Series to entertain Ollie during a fussy period when I was making dinner. A true sacrifice indeed!

I love you both sisters. Thank you for traveling long and far to get here and for serving and loving us and being such fun playmates for both Ollie and me. You are the best. Do come again!

Getting Ready for Bath Time

I know I'm biased as his mom and all but gosh I want to eat him up! His tummy cracks me up.

Here he looks like he knows he's heading for the water and is just stretching out before he does some laps in the pool.

Speaking of water, I'm happy to report that he is taking bath time in stride these days. Yesterday, while I was bathing him, he actually yawned. That's quite an improvement from the squeaking and whining and all out crying we were getting when we first started giving baths. Way to go Ollie. I like to think that my singing of "Baby Beluga" also helps. Not sure it does but what kid doesn't love a little Raffi at bath time?

Sleepy Head

One-eyed Willie, just taking a snooze in his giant striped pants. Love those.
And I'm happy to say that the little man slept a good 6 hours last night. Hallelujah. That's two nights in a row! Perhaps a pattern is developing? Don't want to get the hopes up too high though...
